The development of the
Spanish Academy for
Vocational Training in
Hebron arose as a result
of work done between
the Hebron Rehabilitation
Committee and the Spanish
Cooperation (AECID). In
essence, the Academy is
designed to conserve the
cultural heritage of the Old
City, primarily through
empowering the city’s youth
to take an active role in this
preservation.
In order to achieve this aim,
the Academy will train the
economically and socially
limited youth of Hebron
in traditional crafts. At the
same time, this training
will raise awareness of the
importance of maintaining,
preserving and continuing
their cultural heritage.
Ultimately, these youth will
be prepared to enter the
labor force, utilizing their
newfound skills and taking
an active role in preserving
their cultural heritage.
The Vision of the Academy is to help restore
trade through traditional crafts in the Old
City, thereby re-building the value of cultural
heritage and ultimately preserving it. Our
mission is to train the youth from ages 17-25
to become skilled in a particular craft, which
they may then utilize as an active part of
the labor force. The overall objective is to
improve the living conditions of the youth of
Hebron who have been adversely affected by
social, economic and cultural exclusion.
Professional training offered:
• Building and Construction training
• Electrician and Plumber training
• Carpentry training
• Documentation and Modeling training
