On the morning of March 24, 2016, two Palestinians, Abdel Fattah al-Sharif and Ramzi Qasrawi, 21 years old, were killed near a checkpoint in the Tel Rumeida area of the Old City of Hebron. They were shot at least 10 times.
Videos and photographs emerging have showed following the incident the Israeli ambulances arrived to the scene and immediately checked soldiers and did not attend to the wounds of the Palestinians within a reasonable time. Photographs show the wounded Palestinian, who later died, was still moving but was not being provided with medical care while the Israeli ambulance staff and soldiers were in his presence.
More than 200 Palestinians have been killed since October of 2015. As of March 24, 2016, 22 of the deaths have occurred in the Old City of Hebron. More than half of deaths in the Old City have happened in the Shuhada Street and Tel Rumeida Areas. These areas are being deliberately targeted by Israeli soldiers and settlers in an attempt to push Palestinians out and completely Judaize sections on the Old City.
Hebron Rehabilitation Committee condemns these criminal acts by Israeli forces in the Old City of Hebron. HRC is calling on the international community, the UN and the human rights organizations to intervene through all advocacy and political means available. We ask that those in a position to do so to place pressure on the Israeli government to comply with their obligations under international human rights law and humanitarian law.
